Anthony Muñoz Foundation hosts seminar
The Anthony Muñoz Foundation Youth Leadership Seminar hosted a record 100 high schools at Xavier University's Cintas Center on Thursday. More than 1200 students and 250 teachers and school administrators attended the event.
This year's theme for the participating high school students is "GET M.A.D.!" (Get Everyone to Make a Difference). Among the guest speakers were author Matthew Kelly and local Cincinnati Christian University student Ashley Thompson.
"This is one of our marquee events during the year for the Foundation and I'm proud that we are going to host 100 schools and more students," said Muñoz who was enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1998. "With our partnership with UGive, we are hoping to get the students to make a difference in their schools and communities.
From Friday, October 23rd to Sunday, November 1st, the Anthony Muñoz Foundation will track community service through UGive.org. The school that gets the highest percentage of students to participate will receive a special appearance at their school from Muñoz.
Kelly is the Australian author who has written The Dream Manager, The Rhythm of Life, The Book of Courage, The Shepherd, A Call to Joy and Mustard Seeds. Thompson is a Roger Bacon High School graduate who, through adversity, has learned the importance of fighting against injustice and working toward a better tomorrow.
