Ward jersey to Canton
The Pro Football Hall of Fame is home to the largest collection of football memorabilia in the entire world.
It continues to grow weekly with several significant pieces sent to Canton from milestone moments of the 2009 NFL Season.
The jersey worn by Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward in Week 3 arrived in Canton on Thursday. Ward, the team’s all-time leading receiver, hit the milestone of 10,000 receiving yards during that game against the Bengals in Cincinnati on Sept. 27, 2009.
With a catch in the second quarter he became the 21st player in NFL history to have more than 800 catches and 10,000 yards.

The Super Bowl heads north
The first 15 Super Bowls were played in warm weather states like Florida, California and Louisiana. So, it was a bit of surprise when the location for Super Bowl XVI was announced. The site for the game scheduled for Jan. 24, 1982 was the Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit. It marked the first Super Bowl played in a northern stadium.
NFL on TV
Seventy years ago on Oct. 22, 1939, the NFL had its first game televised. The Brooklyn Dodgers vs. Philadelphia Eagles game was broadcast to a limited audience in New York City.
