Football from Priest Holmes record
In the 2003 season finale against the Chicago Bears, Kansas City Chiefs RB Priest Holmes carried this football into the endzone to score his second TD of the day. With that run Holmes scored his then-record 27th rushing TD of the season. The Chiefs would go on to defeat the Bears, 27-3.
Holmes, who scored all of his touchdowns on the ground, surpassed the record mark for total touchdowns in a season set by Marshall Faulk of the St. Louis Rams. Faulk scored 26 touchdowns in 2000 (18 rushing, 8 receiving). Holmes also set the mark for rushing touchdowns as he topped the 25 scores by Emmitt Smith of the Dallas Cowboys in 1995.
