Sister of HOFer to sing National Anthem at Enshrinement
Soprano Cheryl Warfield, an accomplished operatic performer, will sing the National Anthem at the 2010 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony.
Ms. Warfield is a well-known interpreter of Verdi and Puccini heroines to New York audiences, having performed over 15 lead roles in the standard Italian repertory at the renowned Amato Opera Theater in New York's East Village. Among her many other operatic engagements with orchestra, she was the featured guest artist in concert with the Woodstock (New York) Chamber Orchestra in Beethoven's "Ah! Perfido, Spergiuro" for orchestra and soprano and sang the role of the Countess in Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" at Amato Theater.
Cheryl made her international operatic debut in Rome as Fiordiligi in Mozart's "Cosi fan tutte" and has appeared with the Bregenz Festival in Austria, at the Theater des Westens in Berlin, and in Sweden and the Czech Republic.
A talented performer, she received critical acclaim for her performances with the Lyric Opera of Chicago in the sold-out production of "Porgy and Bess" for her portrayal of Strawberry Woman. In addition to her operatic performances, she appeared on Broadway in Hal Prince's Tony Award winning revival of Jerome Kern's masterpiece "Showboat." She has also appeared in the spirituals concert "Paul Robeson: A Celebration of Culture," and a one-woman show she wrote and directed "Meet Dorothy Maynor, about the life and artistry of the famous soprano and founder of the Harlem School of the Arts.
Ms. Warfield, a native of Warren, Ohio is the "proud baby sister" of Hall of Fame wide receiver Paul Warfield.
