Stache Bash noted in Hall of Fame

The Pro Football Hall of Fame’s curatorial staff is kept busy by processing the many new mementos that are added to the world’s largest collection of pro football artifacts and documents. So far this season, the museum has received numerous donations from history-making events like the football Drew Brees threw to break Johnny Unitas’ record, the ball kicked by David Akers for a record-tying 63-yard field goal, and the gloves worn by Ed Reed when he set the career mark for interception return yardage.

One other recent donation falls under the category of unique. The St. Louis Rams recently sent a box full of Coach Jeff Fisher mustaches to the Hall of Fame. The Rams distributed the Coach Fisher stache to all fans who attended the team’s Week 2 home opener against the Washington Redskins at the Edward Jones Dome.

The team has applied for the Guiness World Record for most mustaches worn in one setting. The promotion to welcome their new head coach received national attention. Hundreds of fans and personalities downloaded the Fisher Stache app so they could superimpose Fisher’s “trademark” mustache on photos of themselves. The craze also trended on Twitter utilizing the hashtag #FisherStache. In addition, the Rams are running numerous photo contests for fans adorning the look-alike mustache made famous by the team’s first-year coach.

Also sent to the Hall of Fame was a game-used football signed by Fisher from the victory that day. Fisher guided the Rams to a 31-28 win over the Redskins which marked his first win with the Rams. Fisher entered the 2012 season with an overall coaching record of 147-126-0 during a 17-season reign as the head coach of the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Oilers/Tennessee Titans.
