Robinson was formally enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Aug. 3. It was during the enshrinement ceremony held inside Canton’s Fawcett Stadium that he and his son Dave, who served as his presenter, unveiled the bronze bust that resides permanently in the Hall of Fame. On the eve of that ceremony, Robinson received his Hall of Fame Gold Jacket.
The bust, jacket, and the ring are the three physical icons that represent an individual’s induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. All three symbols will be displayed during the ring presentation to Robinson on Sunday. He will wear his Hall of Fame Gold Jacket and his bronze bust will be temporarily removed from the Hall of Fame and shipped to Green Bay for the ring ceremony.
Robinson was the Packers’ first round pick in 1963 and he spent 10 of his 12 NFL seasons with the team. He built the reputation as a big-player defender during the Vince Lombardi-led dynasty years in Green Bay. Robinson was a leader on the Packers’ vaunted defense and was voted to the NFL’s All-Decade Team of the 1960s. In all, he was elected to three Pro Bowls, named first-team All-Pro three times and recorded 27 interceptions during a career that spanned from 1963 to 1974. He finished his Hall of Fame career by playing two seasons in Washington.
Former New York Giants coach Bill Parcells received his Hall of Fame ring during Week 2, Dallas Cowboys honored guard Larry Allen on October 13; the Minnesota Vikings’ Cris Carter and Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Warren Sapp received their rings in Week 10; tackle Jonathan Ogden was given his ring in Baltimore during Week 12; and defensive tackle Curley Culp was honored last Sunday in Kansas City.
