Carolina Panthers middle linebacker Luke Kuechly followed up his strong rookie year by being named the 2013 NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He finished the season with 156 combined tackles, 2 sacks and 4 interceptions. His defensive performance helped the Panthers reach the playoffs for the first time since 2008.
The jersey and pants worn by Kuechly during the 2013 season were recently sent to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in honor of his award. He wore the jersey against the New Orleans Saints on Dec. 22 in which he had arguably the best game of his career. The Panthers captain recorded a career and team-high 24 tackles and 1 interception in Carolina's pivotal 17-13 win.
Kuechly’s artifacts will be placed on exhibit in the Hall of Fame’s Pro Football Today Gallery.
