Now playing in his 12th season, Vick is the only player in NFL history to eclipse 20,000 passing yards and 5,000 rushing yards.
The AFC North is the first division in which every team is at least two games above .500 at any point in the season since the final standings of the 1935 NFL Western Division.
The standings also show something that the pro football world has not seen in 20 years - the Cleveland Browns in sole possession of first place. The last time the Browns stood atop their division was 1994 when Bill Belichick coached the team.
Leading the way for Seattle yesterday was Marshawn Lynch who ran for 140 yards on 21 carries and a career-best four rushing touchdowns. Only two other running backs in franchise history (Shaun Alexander, three times and Curt Warner, once) have logged four TDs in a game.
Quarterback Russell Wilson also got in on the action. He ran for 107 yards and one TD in addition to his 172-yard passing effort. The Seahawks are now the first team in NFL history to have a running back rush for at least four touchdowns and feature a quarterback with more than 100 rushing yards in the same game.
But that’s not all. Wilson now has three 100-yard rushing games this season, joining Michael Vick as the only quarterbacks with at least three 100-yard games in a season during the Super Bowl era.
The Lions became the first team since 1994 (New York Giants) to win three games in a row by scoring the game-winning points inside of the two-minute mark.
Stafford has played a huge role in the Lions recent success. He completed 25 of 40 passes for 280 yards and two touchdowns. The former first overall pick has amassed more career passing yards (19,953) in 70 games than any other quarterback in NFL history. Gold Jacket Dan Marino held the record before with 19,179 yards. Stafford has also thrown 122 touchdown passes, which ties him with Hall of Famer Johnny Unitas for the fourth-most touchdown throws of any player through 70 games.
Through 10 games this year, Murray has already rushed for a career-high 1,233 yards and 7 touchdowns. The Cowboys have six games left on the schedule and all eyes will be on Murray to see if he can become just the eighth running back to rush for 2,000 yards in a single season.
From a historical perspective, we were curious to find more information about the last team to give up 50 or more points in two consecutive games. As it turns out, we had to go all the way back to 1923 when the Rochester Jeffersons suffered a two-week stretch in which they gave up a total of 116 points.
The dismal pair of games began when the Jeffersons were shut out 60-0 by the Chicago Cardinals on Oct. 7th. The next week the beleaguered team was dumped 56-0 by the Rock Island Independents. The Jeffersons played only four NFL games that season and didn’t fare much better. The team finished 0-4 and were outscored 141-6 on the year.
The Rochester team began in Rochester, N.Y. as a neighborhood team in 1912 and eventually grew to be city champions. The team was a charter member of the NFL (then known as the American Professional Football Association) in 1920. They finished that season with an unofficial 6-3-2 record. Rochester would enjoy only two wins the following season before going winless from 1922 thru 1925. After that 1925 season, team owner Leo Lyons had seen enough poor play from his team and ceased operations.

Vick Runs for Wins and Yards
Michael Vick led the New York Jets to a surprise 20-13 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers yesterday. Vick passed for 132 yards with two touchdowns and added 39 rushing yards in the victory. Vick now has 6,006 career rushing yards and is the first quarterback in NFL history to reach 6,000 yards.Now playing in his 12th season, Vick is the only player in NFL history to eclipse 20,000 passing yards and 5,000 rushing yards.

The Seahawks Run
The Seattle Seahawks trampled all over the New York Giants yesterday with a franchise-record 350 yards on the ground. The team’s rushing effort lifted the team to a dominant 38-17 win and marked the third time in franchise history that the Seahawks have rushed for more than 300 yards. The previous records were 320 yards against Houston Texans in 2005 preceded by 319 yards against the Oakland Raiders in 2001. Both of those games resulted in Seahawks victories.

Cardiac Cats
The Detroit Lions defeated the Miami Dolphins in thrilling fashion on Sunday. Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford completed an 11-yard touchdown pass to running back Theo Riddick to put the Lions ahead 20-16 with 29 seconds remaining in regulation.The Lions became the first team since 1994 (New York Giants) to win three games in a row by scoring the game-winning points inside of the two-minute mark.

Targeting Thomas
Denver Broncos tight end Julius Thomas has been one of Peyton Manning’s favorite targets the past couple seasons. Thomas, who caught four passes for 63 yards and two touchdowns in the Broncos 41-17 win over the Oakland Raiders, became the first tight end in NFL history to do this:

DeMarco Murray continues to lead the Dallas Cowboys to the top of the NFC East during the first half of the 2014 season. Murray once again rushed for 100 yards during the Cowboys 31-17 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars at London’s Wembley Stadium. Sunday marked the ninth 100-yard rushing game for Murray this season. he is the first player in NFL history to rush for at least 100 yards in nine of his team’s first 10 games to begin a season.Through 10 games this year, Murray has already rushed for a career-high 1,233 yards and 7 touchdowns. The past two games have not been kind to the Chicago Bears. The team has given up more than 50 points in both games, a first in franchise history.From a historical perspective, we were curious to find more information about the last team to give up 50 or more points in two consecutive games.
