Gold Jackets Participate in U.S. Army All-American Bowl

Gold Jackets Marcus Allen, Anthony Muñoz, Lynn Swann and Rod Woodson have been in San Antonio, Texas this week to take part in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and the events that surround it. The game, which will be played today from 1-4 p.m. EDT on NBC, features the country’s finest high school football players.

Swann worked with the students all week during practice to prepare them not only for today’s game, but for their futures in college and beyond.

Swann was the keynote speaker on Friday night during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Awards Banquet. He addressed a crowd of players, their families and members of the Military.
 

The winner of the Anthony Muñoz Offensive Lineman of the Year Award, named after the Gold Jacket and Cincinnati Bengals great, was also announced during the banquet. Martez Ivery, one of the top-rated high school offensive linemen in the nation out of Apopka Florida, was the recipient of the award. Ivery will be playing in the game today.

Gold Jackets Marcus Allen and Rod Woodson will roam the sidelines of today’s contest. They will be serving as honorary coaches. Allen will be coaching for the East Squad and Woodson will be with the West.

All four Gold Jackets taped segments about the values of the Army and the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Medal of Honor recipient Leroy Petry also participated in the festivities. Petry visited the Pro Football Hall of Fame in August and received a special behind-the-scenes tour of the museum.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame and the U.S. Army recently announced an expansion of their partnership for the national Award of Excellence. Now in its third year, the program has been expanded to include 20 outstanding high school student athletes who will be chosen as finalists based on their excellence in academics, athletics and community service.
