10 Facts About the Class of 2015

Eight "Heroes of the Game" - Jerome Bettis, Tim Brown, Charles Haley, Bill Polian, Junior Seau, Will Shields, Mick Tingelhoff and Ron Wolf were elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on the eve of Super Bowl XLIX. They will be formally enshrined on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015. Here are 10 interesting facts about the Class of 2015.

The Class of 2015 is the first class to feature at least eight enshrinees since the Class of 1967.

Mick Tingelhoff and Will Shields (Nebraska) and Tim Brown and Jerome Bettis (Notre Dame) are the 11th and 12th sets of college alums to be elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the same year.

The Class of 2015 is also the first class since the 17-person Charter Class of 1963 to have two sets of enshrinees who attended the same college.

This is the third class to feature multiple contributors (1963 - Bert Bell, Joe Carr, George Halas, Curly Lambeau, Tim Mara, George Preston Marshall and 1967 - Charles Bidwill and Dan Reeves).

This will be the seventh class to feature a Heisman Trophy Winner (O.J. Simpson and Roger Staubach, 1985; Paul Hornung and Doak Walker, 1986; Earl Campbell, 1991; Tony Dorsett, 1994; Marcus Allen, 2003; Barry Sanders, 2004; Tim Brown, 2015).

Notre Dame (Bettis and Brown) and Southern California (Seau) are now tied for the most Pro Football Hall of Famers. Both schools have produced 12 Hall of Famers.

The six players in the Class of 2015 combine for a total of 50 Pro Bowl selections - Bettis (6), Brown (9), Haley (5), Seau (12), Shields (12) and Tingelhoff (6). The only Hall of Fame class to produce more Pro Bowls was the Class of 2014 (55).

The Class of 2015 took part in 42 AFL/NFL/Conference Championship games.

The Class of 2015 participated in 23 Super Bowls.
