The NFL announced yesterday that the extra point will now be snapped from the 15-yard line with two-point conversions remaining at the 2-yard line. The new rule was approved by a 30-2 vote by NFL Owners.
Gold Jacket and legendary Kansas City Chiefs placekicker Jan Stenerud thinks the new rule will add a lot more pressure on kickers.
“It goes with the territory,” said Stenerud. “To miss an extra point from 33 yards to cost the game is rough and it’s going to happen.”
Stenerud explained the new rule change won’t be popular amongst kickers and coaches, but will make the game more entertaining for fans.
“One of my thoughts before this was to do away with the extra point and just give a touchdown seven points.”
