School is out for the summer which means the 2014-15 Pro Football Hall of Fame Heart of a Hall of Famer series has concluded for the season. This year’s program was again a major success.

The award-winning series provides students with the opportunity to learn first-hand from legendary Heroes of the Game what it takes beyond athletic ability to achieve success on and off the field. Lessons focus on the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Gold Jacket Standards of Character (Commitment, Integrity, Courage, Respect and Excellence). More than 20 Gold Jackets (living Hall of Famers) connected to over 100 schools this year and reached nearly 7,000 students from 25 states and Canada.

“I truly enjoyed participating in the Heart of a Hall of Famer Series,” said legendary Washington Redskins wide receiver and Gold Jacket Art Monk. “It gave me a chance to speak to young people about my life outside of football and to encourage them in what’s really important in obtaining success in life.”

Each Heart of a Hall of Famer session featured a different Gold Jacket who shared life lessons from on and off the field. Some of this year’s Gold Jacket participants include Derrick Brooks, Floyd Little, Mike Munchak, Jim Brown, Art Monk and Andre Reed

A central part of the program is an interactive Q&A session with the national audience. Students ask questions ranging from football experiences to social issues such as bullying and peer pressure.

"I really enjoyed the communication with the youth,” shared former Tampa Bay Buccaneer linebacker and Gold Jacket Derrick Brooks. “The fact that we reached across the country was exciting. Also, my students at our High School, Brooks-DeBartolo, had the opportunity to see what other students thought of me. I felt this series allowed me to connect with students and leave a word of wisdom that is bigger than football. I will continue to be a part the Heart of a Hall of Famer Series."

Since the program’s inception in the spring of 2010 the Heart of a Hall of Famer series has reached nearly 50,000 students. The Heart of a Hall of Famer series will start up again in the Fall. Keep checking back for dates and Gold Jackets participants.
