Sydney Seau to speak during Enshrinement Weekend
The Pro Football Hall of Fame has added opportunities for Junior Seau’s daughter Sydney to honor her late father as his presenter during the 2015 Enshrinement Weekend.
Sydney will be given a chance to share thoughts about her father immediately following the unveiling of his bronzed bust. The unveiling, which typically features just the Presenter and Enshrinee, will include Sydney and Junior’s three sons. Her remarks will be live and on-stage in a fashion similar to interviews of returning Hall of Famers featured throughout the Ceremony.
Sydney will also represent her father and be interviewed during the Thursday night Enshrinees’ Gold Jacket Dinner, broadcast nationally on NFL Network.
Although Sydney’s official presentation speech – like all presenters’ speeches – will be in video form, it is nearly twice as long as the other presenters’ tributes.
“Our goal is to maintain our policy regarding Enshrinement speeches, but also show compassion and understanding,” Pro Football Hall of Fame President David Baker stated.
Baker’s goal was echoed by his longtime friend and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who earlier spoke to the Hall of Fame president encouraging him to seek additional ways for Sydney Seau to speak about her father.
