Tim Brown Honored at Hometown Hall of Fame Program

 The Pro Football Hall of Fame and Ford Motor Company paid tribute to Gold Jacket Tim Brown at his high school alma mater on Friday afternoon (Nov. 6) as part of the Hometown Hall of Famer™ program. An audience of 1,300 people packed the auditorium at Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas for the event. The crowd included students, teachers, the full marching band, cheerleaders, the entire football team and many dignitaries. In addition, Brown was greeted upon arrival at the school by 30 family members.
 

Hometown Hall of Famer™ is a national program that honors the hometown roots of the greatest heroes of the game with special ceremonies and plaque dedication events in local communities.
 
“To come back to the place where it all began for me and to give you something that will live forever in front of my family, friends and presented by my son Taylor, is something I would have never dreamed of,” Brown commented.
 
Brown was enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in August. Only the ninth Heisman Trophy winner to make it to Canton, Brown was drafted out of Notre Dame by the Los Angeles Raiders as the sixth player overall in the 1988 NFL Draft. He became one of the most prolific receivers in NFL history during his 17 seasons with the Raiders (1988-2003) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2004). He ranked second at the time of his retirement with 14,934 receiving yards, and his 1,094 career catches was third best. The nine-time Pro Bowler was also noted for his role as a punt and kickoff returner.
 
Friday’s event was the 93rd Hometown Hall of Famer™ ceremony.

Class of 1987 enshrinee Joe Greene will be the next Gold Jacket to be honored through the Hometown Hall of Famer™ program on Tuesday, November 10 in Temple, Texas.
