Four Falls of Buffalo

The Pro Football Hall of Fame received an advanced copy of ESPN Films’ 30 for 30 series, “Four Falls of Buffalo,” and was reviewed by ProFootballHOF.com’s Jason Rentner.
 
There are two words etched in Buffalo Bills history: “wide right.” Those words may bring up painful memories for Buffalo fans, but ESPN Films’ award-winning 30 for 30 series, “Four Falls of Buffalo,”  isn’t a story about the Bills heart-breaking four straight Super Bowl losses. The film portrays the franchise in a positive manner and focuses on the teams’ perseverance and relentlessness they showed through the adversity they faced during that magical run.
 
“Four Falls of Buffalo” features interviews with Hall of Famers Jim Kelly, Andre Reed, Bruce Smith, Bill Polian, Marv Levy, Thurman Thomas and other members of the early ‘90s Bills teams including Scott Norwood. They each recall their personal stories and emotions.  
 
The film highlights some of the greatest moments in the franchise’s history such as The Greatest Comeback, the Super Bowl XXV rally at Buffalo’s City Hall and Don Beebe chasing down Leon Lett in Super Bowl XXVII.
 
While the film centers around the Hall of Famers, Norwood steals the show. The segment about Norwood’s missed kicked to win Super Bowl XXV will bring football fans to tears, no matter which team you root for. It’s clear he struggles with the kick to this day.

The Bills record Super Bowl run is a story that needs to be seen in a different light other than the losses and this film does that. ESPN Films’ 30 for 30 series “Four Falls of Buffalo,” celebrates the excellence as illustrated by the Bills’ unprecedented four straight Super Bowl appearances.

The featured film, directed by Ken Rodgers and produced by NFL Films, will premiere on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 9:30 p.m. ET immediately following the Heisman Trophy presentation on ESPN.
