NFL Draft in Canton?

Seven cities have hosted the NFL draft since it was first established in 1936. Those cities alphabetically include Chicago, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, New York City, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Washington DC. Following a long stint at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, the NFL has taken the draft on the road where they have conducted the past two in Chicago.

Commissioner Goodell recently announced that the draft is unlikely to be held in Chicago next year and future locations haven’t yet been announced.

Many cities are currently bidding to host future NFL drafts, including Canton, Ohio. Pro Football Hall of Fame officials submitted an application last October to host the draft in 2019 or 2020. If the city of Canton wins the bid, it would be in time to celebrate the NFL’s centennial anniversary.

“I can’t guarantee it’s going to happen,” Baker said, per the Canton Repository. “But we’re gonna fight awful hard for this thing.”

Hall of Fame Village would mostly be completed by then providing more than enough accommodations and entertainment for fans across the country.
