Derrick Brooks’ Son Picks Up Big Time College Football Offer
Lovie Smith has been hard at work in his new role as the head coach of football for the University of Illinois, but wasted no time on Wednesday offering his first scholarship to DeCalon Brooks (Tampa Bay, FL).

DeCalon, who is the son of Hall of Fame linebacker Derrick Brooks, is being highly touted by some of the top collegiate programs in the country. Among the offer from Illinois, Brooks currently holds scholarship offers from Florida State University (his father’s alma mater), University of Louisville, Florida International University and the University of South Florida.
Smith, who is no stranger to the Brook’s pedigree, served as Derrick’s linebacker coach in Tampa Bay from 1996-2000, so it’s safe to say that Smith has had is eyes on DeCalon who is rated as a three-star recruit by 247Sports.
Brooks was enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014.
