The Pro Football Hall of Fame Welcomes Delegates from California
With the Republican National Convention in full swing this week in Cleveland, Ohio, members of the California delegation stopped by the Pro Football Hall of Fame for a private event on Tuesday.
Members of the GOP took advantage of a rare opportunity to see Ohio’s Top Tourist Attraction, according to The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer and Cleveland.com, and to be welcomed by Hall of Fame President David Baker.
“It is my pleasure to greet my fellow Californians,” said Baker. “I say ‘fellow’ because I went to college at UC Irvine, law school at Pepperdine, had the honor to serve as Mayor of Irvine and lived in Newport Beach...…but I am very lucky to be here today as President of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, arguably the best job at the most inspiring place on earth and it is in that capacity, that I welcome you today"
The group included 550 Californians making up the party, the largest delegation in the country. Today they viewed the exhibits and a few lucky members got a sneak peek to the Hall’s newest exhibit that hasn’t opened yet, “A Game For Life.”
“We walked away with an inspirational message of team work, empowerment and realizing that even though we may not be a Pro Football Hall of Famer but we can be pros in our daily lives,” said Delegations Director of California Matt Wheeler.
The California delegates are ecstatic to be in Northeast, Ohio and soak in the culture.
“The state of Ohio has rolled out the red carpet for us,” exclaimed Wheeler. “We feel very welcomed. We feel safe and secure and there is always that Midwestern nice, that makes us feel very welcomed.”
