Legendary Quarterback Roger Staubach in East Texas on Saturday

Dallas Cowboys legendary quarterback and Gold Jacket Roger Staubach was inducted into the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Hall of Fame in August. The celebration will continue as he will receive a well-deserved award for his induction into the NJCAA during the New Mexico Military Institute football game.

The Cincinnati, Ohio native attended NMMI to help him prepare for entry into the United States Naval Academy. He was a one-year student during the 1960-61 school year, a private in the 1st platoon and 2nd squad of Company G, and he participated fully in the NMMI Corps of Cadets, all while playing three officially sanctioned junior college sports: football, basketball and baseball.

Staubach went on to star as a QB at the U.S. Naval Academy for four years, where he was a Heisman Trophy winner as a junior in 1963. Following his graduation, he spent a mandatory four years on active duty, including service in Vietnam, before he was able to turn his attention to pro football.  

The Pro Football Hall of Fame works closely with members of the military who serve our country. Hall of Fame President David Baker will be at the U.S. Naval Academy on October 18 to address 4,500 midshipmen.
