"A Football Life: Brett Favre" to Premiere at Hall of Fame This Weekend
NFL Network’s “A Football Life: Brett Favre” will be premiered Friday (Oct. 21) at the Pro Football Hall of Fame with additional screenings on Saturday (Oct. 22). The one-hour documentary produced by NFL Films tells the life story of the record-setting quarterback who was enshrined into the Hall of Fame this past August.
Guests visiting the Hall of Fame this weekend will have the opportunity to view “A Football Life: Brett Favre” with the purchase of a museum admission. The hour-long film will run continuously from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.
Favre, a Mississippi native, excelled as a collegiate quarterback at the only school that offered him a scholarship to play the game, the University of Southern Mississippi. The Atlanta Falcons selected him in the second round, 33rd overall, of the 1991 NFL Draft. After seeing little action his rookie year, Favre was traded to the Packers the next season where he became the team’s longtime starting quarterback.
He rewrote the NFL’s record book during a spectacular pro career. In his first season with the Packers, Favre recorded 3,227 passing yards – the first of an NFL record 18-straight seasons in which he reached the 3,000-yard plateau. He exceeded 4,000 passing yards in six of those seasons.
Favre threw for a career-high 4,413 yards in 1995 and earned the first of three straight NFL Most Valuable Player awards. The 11-time Pro Bowl selection, led the Packers to two consecutive Super Bowl appearances in 1996 and 1997 including 35-21 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXI.
After 16 seasons (1992-2007) with the Packers, Favre went on to play for the New York Jets (2008) and finished his career with the Minnesota Vikings (2009-2010). Favre played in a record 299 straight games while posting totals of 6,300 completions, 10,169 attempts, 71,838 yards, and 508 touchdowns during his 302-game NFL career.
