Packers Set To Honor Hall of Famer Brett Favre Sunday

Former Green Bay Packer’s native son Brett Favre will become the third member of the Class of 2016 to receive his Ring of Excellence, on Sunday during a halftime ceremony when the Packers take on the Dallas Cowboys.

In relationship with Kay Jewelers, the Official Jewelry Store of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, The Hall of Fame Ring of Excellence is one of three iconic symbols that represent the elite status of being a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Favre received his Hall of Fame Gold Jacket on Thursday night of Enshrinement Week in Canton, and unveiled his Bronzed Bust during the Enshrinement Ceremony two days later.

All three symbols will be displayed during the Hall of Fame Ring of Excellence presentation. Favre will wear his Hall of Fame Gold Jacket and his Bronzed Bust will be temporarily removed from the Hall of Fame to make its way to Green Bay for the ceremony.

As a part of the celebration and Packers tradition, Favre’s name will be unveiled inside Lambeau Field.

In an interview with www.fox11news.com Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy said this about Favre, “Anytime they put your name up in Lambeau Field it’s special. So obviously Brett’s special, and especially what he’s accomplished as a Green Bay Packer.”

This will not be the first time Favre is being honored as a Hall of Famer, in August, Favre returned to Hancock High School in Kiln, Miss as a part of the Ford Hometown Hall of Famer Program. Favre dedicated a bronze plaque to his alma mater as a symbol of honor to all of the support he received on his path to the Hall of Fame.

An audience of over 1,000 attended the ceremony and Hancock High School is now an official high school of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, one of only 107 in the country to receive the honor.

Favre will be the 24th former Packer that has been inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
