Cowboys Celebrate Excellence of 92’ Title and Anniversary of Jones Purchase
Newly class member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Jerry Jones and former head coach Jimmy Johnson reunited for a Dallas Cowboys celebration of their first Super Bowl XXVII victory at Gilley’s in Dallas, Saturday night. The celebration was also in conjunction with the 28th anniversary of the day Jones purchased the team.
The reunion of the Cowboy’s 1992 championship team, was orchestrated as a 25th anniversary celebration by Gold Jackets Troy Aikman (2006), Emmitt Smith (2010) and Michael Irvin (2007). The “Triplets” accounted for three titles in four years and now are forever brothers of the elite Pro Football Hall of Fame.
According to reports from Statesman.com, the reunion of the former Arkansas teammates was delightful. Jones and Johnson exchanged compliments in interviews and warm handshakes before the festivities kicked off.
Among the Gold Jackets and Cowboy legends in attendances at Saturday’s Gala were Aikman, Smith, Irvin, Roger Staubach (1985) and Tony Dorsett (1994). Jones was presented with a painting of him illustrated in the Pro Football Hall of Fames’ iconic Gold Jacket.
Jones will be enshrined this August in Canton, Ohio, along with classmates Morten Andersen, Terrell Davis, Kenny Easley, Jason Taylor, LaDainian Tomlinson and Kurt Warner. Fan Packages are available now!
