Merlin Olsen Super Bowl LI Luncheon
The Pro Football Hall of Fame Super Bowl Merlin Olsen Super Bowl Luncheon is an official Super Bowl event.
This year’s luncheon at Super Bowl LI is presented by the Ford Motor Company and in partnership with the Greater Houston Partnership.
The sponsor driven event features more than 100 Gold Jackets and NFL Legends on hand. The program includes a show production that centers around “The Values of the Game” with roundtables hosted by Hall of Fame President David Baker.
This year’s event will be emceed by CBS Sports’ James Brown. A Gold Jacket and NFL Legend is honored each year and at Super Bowl LI, the honorees include Gold JACKET EARL CAMPBELL and NFL Legend Houston Texans Owner Robert McNair.
Each honoree is presented with painting of their storied career moments, and every attendee receives a poster of the Gold Jacket painting.
In addition, 19 Gold Jackets from Historically Black Colleges & Universities, will be attendance as part of the Super Bowl festivities.
Last year in San Francisco at Super Bowl 50, the Merlin Olsen Super Bowl Luncheon was labeled by Jerry Jones as “the best event of Super Bowl Week.”
The Luncheon was first hosted prior to Super Bowl XL in Detroit and was named after Merlin Olsen, whose vision for this event has helped fund the Hall of Fame’s Enshrinees Assistance Fund, that assists Hall of Famers in need.
In total, 70 living Hall of Famers (Gold Jackets) are scheduled to be in attendance. See the full list of Gold Jacket attendees below:
