Pro Football Hall of Fame Names George Oliver as New Board Member

The Pro Football Hall of Fame named George R. Oliver, Chairman and CEO of Johnson Controls, to its Board of Trustees.

It is evident he believes in the Hall of Fame’s important mission to Honor the Heroes of the Game, Preserve its History, Promote its Values & Celebrate Excellence EVERYWHERE,” shared Hall of Fame Chairman of the Board Randy Hunt. “We look forward to George providing his business acumen and leadership talents to the Hall at a critical time as we embark on an exciting vision for the future.”

Oliver was named Chairman and CEO of Johnson Controls on Sept. 1, 2017. Johnson Controls, a global diversified technology and multi-industrial leader with 120,000 employees serving a wide range of customers in more than 150 countries, entered into a historic naming rights agreement for Johnson Controls Hall of Fame Village in Nov. 2016.

Prior to his current role, Oliver had served as president and chief operating officer with responsibility for the company’s operating businesses and leading the integration of Johnson Controls and Tyco following a 2016 merger.

Oliver previously served as chief executive officer of Tyco and as a member of its Board of Directors from September 2012 through the September 2016 merger with Johnson Controls.

In addition to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Oliver also serves on the Board of Directors of Raytheon Company, a technology and innovation leader specializing in defense and other government markets throughout the world; and the Board of Trustees of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering.
