Pro Football Hall of Famers Surprise Guests Visiting The Hall
A visit to the Pro Football Hall of Fame is a “bucket list” item for football fans across the country and the world who travel to Canton to experience “The Most Inspiring Place on Earth!”
Now, thanks to the creative minds of the Hall of Fame Productions team, guests may enjoy special surprises during their visits. Fans will engage, unknowingly, with those select few who’ve earned a Bronzed Bust in Canton.
“Undercover Bust,” a new digital series debuted today on the Hall of Fame’s website, YouTube Channel and across its social media platforms (@ProFootballHOF on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat).
The concept of “Undercover Bust” is simple. A Pro Football Hall of Famer is disguised as a museum volunteer or member of the Hall’s staff. The football icon greets guests visiting the Hall of Fame.
The debut episode features the NFL’s all-time leading scorer MORTEN ANDERSEN who was enshrined into the Hall of Fame this past August. Andersen was at the Hall of Fame recently to host the “Heart of a Hall of Famer” program to share values learned from the Game – Commitment, Integrity, Courage, Respect and Excellence – with hundreds of students as part of the Hall’s Youth/Education initiatives.
After the event, he changed into the attire of a Hall of Fame museum volunteer that included a white Hall of Fame polo and Hall of Fame visor, and took on a new identity as Bob Summers from nearby Green, Ohio. He even adorned his own Hall of Fame nametag that has his name “BOB” in big, bold letters.
Andersen greeted guests as they entered the Hall of Fame Gallery and shared that it was his first day as a volunteer. “BOB” explained that the camera was following him as part of his training.
He walked several guests to the display of the Class of 2017 bronzed busts and began asking them about 2017 Enshrinee Morten Andersen. “Have you ever heard of him?” he inquired. He later questioned a knowledgeable fan by asking, “Are you surprised Andersen’s in the Hall?” Eventually he reveals who he is and the reaction of the guests is priceless (see link to episode below).
The idea for the digital series was hatched earlier this year and the Hall of Fame Productions Team was waiting for the right Hall of Famer to launch it. Andersen was the perfect fit as he known for his terrific sense of humor. Andersen immediately accepted the invite when he was pitched the idea. In fact, he also came up with the idea of calling the series “Undercover Bust.”
“Undercover Bust” will be an ongoing series with the next Hall of Famer in disguise happening in the very near future.
