A Game For Life Online Training Platform for Coaches, Players and Parents to Launch
A Game for Life Academy, an online training platform is being launched by the Pro Football Hall of Fame after extensive research and development.
It is a model that will impact and positively influence millions of children across the world. The cutting-edge product will debut at the annual USA Football National Conference as part of 2018 Pro Bowl festivities in Orlando, Florida.
A Game for Life Academy is a key component of A Game for LifeTM that is an overall philosophy and programming designed to inspire coaches who, in turn, will influence youth players and parents by examining the values learned from the Game. The foundation for A Game for LifeTM is the Hall of Fame’s core values – commitment, integrity, courage, respect and excellence – that apply to all areas of life.
“Now, more than ever, character education is essential to impact the lives of young people who will make a big difference in our future,” Hall of Fame President & CEO David Baker stated. “This Game teaches great life lessons and the Hall’s A Game for Life Academy will use these values as an avenue to change the world, one athlete, coach, and parent at a time.”
The Pro Football Hall of Fame’s online training platform, developed through the support of the National Football League, features Hall of Famers and other NFL legends who instruct coaches, students and parents on the values of the game aimed to encourage lives of virtue and positive community impact.
A Game for Life Academy online platform is more than “Xs and Os,” and gleans life lessons from football greats to equip the next generation, on and off the field. The curriculum is designed to empower coaches, and parents, to use the values of the game as a context to inspire young people. A Game for Life Academy features Hall of Fame coach TONY DUNGY who guides youth football coaches through the pilot course. Dungy provides a passionate perspective on the role of a coach in a young person’s life. The online courses are taught by numerous Hall of Famers including MORTEN ANDERSEN, JIM KELLY, ANTHONY MUÑOZ, and DAVE ROBINSON; along with NFL Legend Roman Oben, and Dr. Jen Welter, former professional football player and coach, who relive their lives and careers by sharing how the game of football changed them.
Starting with the rollout at the USA Football National Conference later this week, thousands of high school and youth coaches will receive free access to A Game for Life Academy. The online learning tool, available through mobile device and desktop, provides coaches with resources to shape people’s lives around the country and the world to create the next generation of leaders. A Game for Life Academy includes links to Legends to connect the world to character education in communities across the country and world. In addition, the tool connects to the Repository of Excellence that provides digital access to the world’s best compilation of character through the assets in the Hall of Fame’s Ralph Wilson, Jr. Pro Football Research & Preservation Center. A Game for Life Academy will feature contents from the Hall’s expanding Personal Player Archive, a digital file on every player, coach, and administrator from the NFL’s nearly 100-year history.
A Game for Life Academy is one of many components to the overall A Game for LifeTM programming that is being created as a foundation for Johnson Controls Hall of Fame Village, the nearly $800 million mixed-use development underway on the Hall’s campus.
All athletes participating in tournaments or camps at the spectacular National Youth Football & Sports Complex at Johnson Control Hall of Fame Village in Canton are required to participate in seminars taught by the A Game for Life Education Department. Johnson Controls Hall of Fame Village is also the host for the A Game for Life World Youth Football Championships held each year.
