HOF Receives Jim Brown Donation
The Pro Football Hall of Fame recently received somewhat of a unique donation.
Former Cleveland Browns ball boy Rick Ravitz donated the last jersey issued to Gold Jacket Jim Brown. He never actually wore this jersey, but it is still a significant part of football history.
The Browns believed Brown would play for them during the 1966 season. However, during the course of training camp, Brown announced his retirement to pursue his acting career.
The Browns equipment manager gave the jersey to Ravitz for his service during training camp. Ravitz held onto it for years, but decided it would be better preserved in the Hall’s archives.
The jersey will be on display in the museum for fans to view. Admission tickets can be purchased online or in the HOF’s box office.
