Since entering the league in 1996, Vinatieri has played for two teams, the New England Patriots and the Colts. Andersen spent 25 years with five different teams.

Prior to the record field goal, Vinatieri made history by suiting up. He surpassed George Blanda for 4th in all-time games played. Andersen ranks 1st with 362 games.

Vinatieri is on pace to break another one of Andersen’s records this year for most career points scored. As of now, he has 2,509 points and Andersen has 2,544. The Pro Football Hall of Fame will collect artifacts from this milestone, which will ultimately be placed on display in the Pro Football Today Gallery.
