Centene & Pro Football Hall of Famers Darrell Green, Randy Moss & Aeneas Williams Host Youth Summit in WV
The Pro Football Hall of Fame and Centene Corporation, the Official Youth Wellness Partner of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, hosted its 12th Strong Youth Strong Communities (SYSC) Summit of 2018 at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center on Friday, Sept. 7. The nationwide initiative is investing in today’s youth to positively impact current and future communities. SYSC equips youth with life skills, resources, and leadership-focused engagement to unlock potential, promote active thinking and sound judgment, and connect them with adult thought leaders and mentors committed to developing youth leaders.
The free summit, led by Pro Football Hall of Famers DARRELL GREEN, RANDY MOSS and AENEAS WILLIAMS, was open to all middle school and high school students – of which nearly 1,300 were in attendance – in the Beckley area. Green, Moss and Williams were joined at the summit by Iman McFarland, COO 21st Century Expo Group, along with various other community leaders, mentors and health experts, to lead discussions on topics such as bullying and self-esteem. Partners include Raleigh County Schools, Woodrow Wilson High School, the YMCA, New River Community and Technical College, Heart of Gold Ministries, Central Baptist Church, and Mt. Vernon Church.
