The band’s bid for the Super Bowl halftime show began in Canton, Ohio at the Concert for Legends last August. Adam Levine, singer and guitarist of Maroon 5, talked to the crowd and expressed the band’s interest in playing during the big game.

The Concert for Legends began in 2015. A major band or artist have performed in front of a crowd over 23,000 in Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium on Sunday after the Enshrinement Ceremony to cap off a spectacular week.
These bands and artists include Aerosmith (2015), Tim McGraw (2016), Toby Keith and Kid Rock (2017) and Maroon 5 (2018). Some of their performances can be seen on the HOF Channel.
It seems like Concert for Legends at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium is the Super Bowl Halftime “Idol” for bands to audition at the "Most Inspiring Place on Earth," the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
