What is the Youth Leadership Seminar?

The Youth Leadership Seminar [YLS] is a one day leadership development opportunity for Tri State high school students. Each year up to 100 high schools and over 1,000 students join us to hear from inspirational guest speakers, learn valuable lessons in reaching their goals and standing out as leaders, as well as interacting with other student leaders in the area. This years theme is" Empowered".

What time does the event start and end?

The Youth Leadership Seminar begins promptly at 9:00 a.m. Registration will be open as early as 8:00 a.m. No worries if you're late! However, the earlier you arrive the more you will get to enjoy! The event will end at 1 :30 p.m.

Does the school have to pay and is transportation provided?

YLS is completely FREE. The only cost to the school is transportation to and from the event.

What will we do at the event?

You and your students will do a variety of activities which will include learning from guest speakers and participating in breakout sessions with other schools. Constant interaction from your school is supported and encouraged throughout the event.

What does the day of event schedule look like?

8:00-9:00 a.m.: Registration

9:00-10:00 a.m.: Morning speakers

10:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Breakout rotations and lunch provided by Chick-Fil-A 12:35 p.m.-1:30 p.m.: Afternoon speakers and event wrap up

How many students and chaperones can I bring? Do I have to be a teacher to attend?

Up 15 students and 3 chaperones [teachers and/or administrators] may attend. At least one chaperone must be in attendance with each school. Coaches, counselors, administrators, teachers, or any school staff member can be considered as a chaperone.

Who should I bring?

Anyone in your eyes that represents  a leader. Schools typically find success when groups consist of members from a specific school club or class [Student Government, National Honor Society, etc]. The only restriction we have is that students must be a high school student, which in our definition is grades 9-12.

Will any meals be provided?

Lunches will be provided by Chick-fil-A to students and teachers. Please be sure to have breakfast prior to attending the event.

What is acceptable event attire?

Attire is casual dress: jeans and gym shoes are acceptable. We strongly encourage attendees to wear gym shoes since they will be walking around the Crossroads Complex.
