Drew Brees Now All-Time Leader in Passing Yards

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees surpassed Gold Jacket Brett Favre (71,838) and future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning (71,940) to become the all-time leader in career passing yards.

The record play occurred on Monday Night Football against the Washington Redskins in the 2nd quarter when Brees connected with Tre'Quan Smith for a 62-yard touchdown pass.

The officials stopped the game to honor Brees and allow him to head to the sidelines to find Hall of Fame President David Baker to hand him the football to be placed on display in Canton. It was an emotional moment for him as he shook his hand and then embraced his family.

Manning created a video for him to congratulate him on the record.

Brees began his career in 2001 with the San Diego Chargers and then headed south to the Saints where he has been with the team since 2006. He’s racked up not only stats and broken records, but he’s earned awards such as Walter Payton Man of the Year, the Bert Bell Award and was named to 11 Pro Bowls, AP offensive player of the year, AP Comeback Player of the Year and All-Pro.
