Eighth Annual Flavors of Austin raises funds and awareness for multiple sclerosis

Pro Player Foundation and University of Texas Heisman Trophy winner and Pro Football Hall of Fame running back, Earl Campbell, will host the 8^th Annual Flavors of Austin. The 2019 event, sponsored by Biogen, will be held on Saturday, March 2^nd at the Hyatt Regency Austin. The 2019 Flavors of Austin will benefit the Pro Player Foundation and the highlighted charity for the event will be the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Earl’s youngest son, Tyler, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2007. The Campbell’s are very passionate about the Society’s scholarship program and the positive impact it has on those it aims to benefit.  This annual event raises awareness for MS while showcasing the delicious cuisine and talented chefs for which this city has become known. Additionally, Pro Football Hall of Fame members Tony Dorsett, Joe Greene, Charles Haley, Ken Houston, Randall McDaniel, John Randle, Dallas Cowboys legend Ed “Too Tall” Jones, and 1995 Heisman Trophy winner Eddie George will be in attendance to lend their support for the Pro Player Foundation and the Society’s goal of changing the world for everyone affected by MS.

Guests will indulge in culinary bites from the Bonneville, Chinatown, Eberly, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, Hoover’s Cooking, the Hyatt Regency, Jugo, Pitchfork Pretty, Austin Gourmet Popcorn, Ranch 616, Salt Lick BBQ, Toss, Whitfield’s, and the University of Texas Club. Delectable desserts will be provided by Amy’s Ice Creams, Shipley Do-Nuts, Sinsational Cakes Bakery and Yummi Joy. The 2018 Tasting Station of the Year was University of Texas Club. Guests will have the opportunity to bid on a George Strait Guitar, ResorTime vacations to Hawaii and Mexico, and spa, sports memorabilia and restaurant packages.  Entertainment will be provided by renowned Austin singer and pianist Emily Gimble.

Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2007 while playing football at San Diego State University, Tyler Campbell refuses to let the disease stop him from moving his life forward. A successful businessman, husband and father, Tyler views his diagnosis as a blessing, stating, “I now have the opportunity to share my experience to help others living with this disease and make an impact on the MS community.” Tyler, a long-time Austinite, now serves as an MS Ambassador for Pro Player Foundation and the National MS Society and is on a mission to help other people with the disease, especially those facing the uncertainty of the future of their education due to MS.
