Educational Program Livestream: Careers in the NFL
As part of a joint effort with museums in Stark and Tuscarawas Counties looking to provide some educational opportunities, the Pro Football Hall of Fame is joining in to present content for teachers, parents and students every Friday at Noon.
This Friday, we are proud to present a LIVE version of this programming with a focus on “Careers in the NFL.” The Hall of Fame’s Youth/Education Team will be broadcasting LIVE on Facebook with the National Football League’s Director of Photography and Lead Photographer, Ben Liebenberg.
This program will provide students and fans alike the opportunity to learn about Mr. Liebenberg’s career in Sports Photography, with a special look into the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s 52nd Annual Photo Contest, which Liebenberg was a judge for.
This year, as you will see during the program, the winner in the Action Category of the Dave Boss Award of Excellence was Isaiah Downing (a USA Today Sports Photographer) for his picture “Air Allen” which depicted Los Angeles Chargers Wide Receiver Keenan Allen diving for a touchdown against the Denver Broncos in their 23-20 win on December 1st, 2019.
The photo contest was open to professional photographers on assignment to cover NFL Games. Photos taken during the 2019 NFL Season, which included Super Bowl LIV and the 2020 Pro Bowl, were eligible.
The judging for this contest took place in mid-April and was judged by our special guest Mr. Liebenberg, as well as John Biever (longtime NFL Photographer), Terrell Lloyd (49ers Sr. Manager, Photography Services), John Reid III (Cleveland Browns Gameday Photographer) and Dan Szpakowski (Lead Photographer, New York Jets).
The Pro Football Hall of Fame wants those who are viewing this program to see another side of sports that doesn’t get appreciated all of the time – Sports Photography. This will be a look into Liebenberg’s career as a photographer and all of the experiences he has been through, as well as a look into the judging of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s 52nd Annual Photo Contest.
This video is part of an educational video series created by the Hall of Fame’s Youth and Education Department for parents, teachers and students to help further their education from home or the classroom.
