Belichick Explains Why He Honored Pollard

In his team’s season-opener, New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick paid tribute to one of the National Football League’s trailblazers, Fritz Pollard, the League’s first Black head coach.

Belichick, who wore a visor adorned with a patch with Pollard’s name, talked in his postgame comments about Pollard’s courage and what he represented in the League earliest days.
