Chiefs' Super Bowl LIV Ring Gleams in Canton
The Pro Football Hall of Fame has unveiled a special artifact to help highlight the Kansas City Chiefs magical 2019 season.
The Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIV championship ring was placed on display in the Lamar Hunt Super Bowl Gallery.
The ring was created by Jostens and features 255 diamonds and 16 rubies for a combined total weight of 10.85 carats.
Other facts about the Super Bowl LIV championship ring:
- There are 60 diamonds set inside an Arrowhead-shaped “adornment” that honors 60 seasons of Chiefs football.
- The letters KC are made up of yellow gold and shimmer with 16 custom-cut rubies that represent the franchise’s 10 AFC West Division titles combined with six playoff appearances under head coach Andy Reid.
- The 50 diamonds around the rubies and logo mark the 50 years between Super Bowl titles.
- The 122 diamonds along the top edges signify 100 seasons of NFL football and the Chiefs’ 22 playoff appearances.
- Two marquise diamonds represent the franchise’s two Super Bowl victories, and the four baguette rubies on the top and bottom edges of the ring symbolize four consecutive AFC West titles.
- The words “World Champions” are made up of contrasting yellow gold.
- Each player’s name is on the left side of the ring in yellow gold. Below that, flags that capture the ’69 and ’19 Super Bowl victories fly alongside the player’s number or title set in diamonds. BE GREAT, the team’s championship season motto, is set in a banner beneath, followed by the numbers 142.2, the decibel rating that makes Arrowhead Stadium the loudest in the world.
- The right side has the words “Chiefs Kingdom” with the Super Bowl LIV logo in white gold. It also has the final score, 31-20, and the championship year date, 2019.
- Inside are etched scores, logos and point deficits of in the postseason.
- A football located on the outer band features the initials LH, which honors franchise founder Lamar Hunt, who coined the name “Super Bowl.”
In addition to seeing the new Super Bowl LIV championship ring and the other 53 rings on display, fans can take a photo next to the Vince Lombardi Trophy that will be awarded to the winners of Super Bowl LV. They also can relive the 2019 season and the Chiefs’ first world title in 50 years with a viewing of NFL Films’ production “Road to the Super Bowl” in the Hall’s Super Bowl Theater and also view artifacts from Super Bowl LIV in the Pro Football Today Gallery.
All exhibits and artifacts are included with a Museum admission ticket. The Pro Football Hall of Fame is open every day of the year, except Thanksgiving and Christmas, with winter hours now in affect: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
