NFL's First All-Black Officiating Crew Honored
During the Week 11 Monday Night Football contest between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Los Angeles Rams, history was made. The NFL assembled the first all-Black officiating crew for the Nov. 23, 2020 game.
This crew was assembled to pay tribute to the Black officials who have contributed to football. Artifacts that have arrived in Canton include the football used for the opening kickoff, the jersey worn by head Referee Jerome Boger as well as an autographed football and media flip card, both signed by the entire officiating team.
These items and more artifacts from the 2020 NFL season are now on display in the Hall’s Pro Football Today Gallery.
