Hall of Famer Jerry Jones commits $20 million to help fund new National Medal of Honor Museum

Multiple media outlets reported Thursday that Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys and a 2017 member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, has pledged $20 million toward the construction of the National Medal of Honor Museum and Leadership Institute.

Jones’s announcement comes on the 30th anniversary of National Medal of Honor Day and 158 years to the day after the first Medal of Honor was bestowed during the Civil War, reporter Jori Epstein noted in her USA Today article.

Charlotte Jones, the Cowboys’ chief brand officer and daughter of Jerry Jones, serves as the chairman of the museum's board of directors.

The commitment from Jones pushes the museum to $70 million as it nears completion of its design phase, with plans to break ground next spring, Epstein wrote.

Opening of the museum, which will be located near AT&T Stadium in Arlington, tentatively is scheduled for 2024.
