Alan Faneca Chooses Former Teammate Hines Ward as Presenter
Alan Faneca, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2021, has chosen a longtime teammate with the Pittsburgh Steelers to present him for enshrinement this summer.
Making the announcement on social media Tuesday morning, Faneca gave the honor to wide receiver Hines Ward.
Both Faneca and Ward were picks of the Steelers in the 1998 NFL Draft. Faneca, from LSU, went with the 26th overall selection in Round 1. Ward was taken in Round 3 with the 92nd overall pick out of the University of Georgia.
They took the field for the Steelers 158 times together in the regular season from 1998 through the 2007 season. Faneca then spent two seasons with the Jets and one with the Cardinals before retiring.
Ward played his entire career with the Steelers, retiring after the 2011 season. He played 217 regular-season games and made exactly 1,000 career receptions for 12,083 yards and 85 touchdowns.
Faneca and Ward won a Super Bowl ring with the Steelers in the 2005 season, and Ward added a second in the 2008 season.
Enshrinement of the Class of 2021 will be held Aug. 8 at Tom Benson Hall of Fame in Stadium in Canton.
