The Pro Football Hall of Fame and the Great American Rivalry Series® (GARS) are teaming to recognize a Great American Rivalry Series Scholar Athlete Hall of Fame Team for the second season.

Last year, the inaugural team of 25 Scholar Athletes was selected from more than 700,000 votes casts for the 158 GARS Scholar Athletes during the three-month campaign. The 25 selected players received a personal message from Pro Football Hall of Famers CRIS CARTER and TY LAW, congratulating them on their selection as a GARS Scholar Athlete Hall of Fame Team member.

“We are proud to announce the continuation of the Great American Rivalry Series Scholar Athlete Hall of Fame Team program,” GARS founder Rick Ford said. “The dedication and commitment to success these student-athletes showcase each day is exemplary, especially facing the challenges presented during this time. We are proud to have the Pro Football Hall of Fame as our partner for this honor.”

The Great American Rivalry Series is the largest and longest-running marketing platform in high school sports and is entering its 18th year this fall and activating its 1,000th rivalry game this year.

“The players named to this Scholar Athlete Team are shining examples of what’s possible when the values of the Pro Football Hall of Fame are demonstrated on the field and in the classroom,” said Pat Lindesmith, Chief Partnership Officer and Senior Vice President of Gold Jacket Relations. “Leading others by showing that level of Commitment, Integrity, Courage, Respect and Excellence every day will result in many successes for the rest of their lives.”

The United States Marine Corps is continuing its long-standing association with the Great American Rivalry Series and once again will be one of its sponsors.

“The elite status of the Great American Rivalry Series and Pro Football Hall of Fame fits perfectly with the Fighting Spirit of the Marine Corps and these fine young athletes,” said Leroy Pennington, Marine Corps Marketing Specialist. “They have earned their status as a member of the 2021 Great American Rivalry Series Scholar Athlete Hall of Fame Team, and we’re honored to recognize their accomplishments.”
