Dozens of Pro Football Hall of Famers return to Canton each year to welcome the newest class of enshrinees.

In another opportunity to give back to the community they call their “second home,” several members of the Hall of Fame this past Enshrinement Week teamed with staff from James Hardie and Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio at a build site that soon will be ready for a young family of four.

One of North America’s leaders in home building, James Hardie is providing some of the key materials for the 1,300-square-foot, four-bedroom, 1.5-bath ranch home in northeast Canton.

Hall President Jim Porter and James Hardie CEO James Erter worked alongside Habitat for Humanity crew members, and several Hall of Famers and their spouses and children to raise two walls of the structure.

The home’s construction also helps kick off the countdown to the new PGA Tour Champions event, the James Hardie Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational, that will tee off next spring and feature legends of golf and professional football.

From March 31 to April 6, 78 PGA Tour Champions and 26 pro football alumni are set to participate. Proceeds will help Habitat for Humanity chapters across the country.
