Singer/songwriter will perform prior to Nickelback at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton
Nashville native and singer, songwriter, producer and performer Mitchell Tenpenny has been tapped to open the 2025 Concert for Legends featuring rock band Nickelback at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, on Sunday, Aug. 3.Tenpenny’s music blends traditional country with elements of rock, pop and R&B. Since the release of his debut, four-time RIAA platinum-certified No. 1 hit single, “Drunk Me,” he has set new standards for breakout success in country music. He was recognized for reaching the 1 billion-streams threshold, now surpassing 2.3 billion global streams.
“Mitchell Tenpenny and Nickelback appearing at the 2025 Concert for Legends will create an atmosphere of energy and a fun environment for fans,” said Jim Porter, president & CEO of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. “We are extremely excited to bring these acts together on the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium stage.”
Tenpenny’s additional No. 1 singles include, “Truth About You” and “At The End of A Bar,” a collaboration with Chris Young. With the latter (at the time of its chart peak), he made history with the shortest span between chart-topping hits since 1982 within only a three-week gap.
The grandson of former Sony/ATV Music CEO Donna Hilley, Tenpenny is a two-time Academy of Country Music Award (ACM) nominee. He also has garnered nominations for Country Music Association (CMA) and Country Music Television (CMT) awards.
Honored by the American Cancer Society of Tennessee for his work with the ACS Hope Lodge, Tenpenny’s “The 10Penny Fund,” started in 2018, has raised over $500,000 for sustainable and meaningful programs to support cancer patients.
