Flag drops for start of NFL Flag Championships
The tournament will feature almost 300 teams and 3,000 players across multiple age divisions as well as eight international team competing for titles.
Like most participants, the Lexington (Ky.) Colts 14U boys team and staff were excited as they entered the field for their initial game.
Colts player Josh Bell, a Ja’Marr Chase fan, said, “I was ready to play for real. It’s the first time this happened for Lexington, and I am happy to play against the best people in the country. I just want to play the best people I can and improve myself.”
Teammate Nick Logan added: “I was a little nervous, but I had a lot of trust in our teammates, and I know what we can do. We just have to take it on the field.”
Logan settled in quickly by scoring Lexington’s first touchdown of the tournament early in this team’s first game.
Lexington coach Michael Logan, who has coached flag football for 21 years, shared his experience of earning a trip to Canton saying, “We never made it this far before; we never won a regional tournament. Making it to the regional and winning it was enough, but coming here is exciting.”
As part of their flag championships experience, players and coaches have the opportunity to visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
“I really want to see the Hall of Fame, all the greats in NFL history and take it all in, because I love football,” Nick Logan proclaimed.
