2025 Clash at the Classic: Virginia Union Panthers run away with 45-3 win over Miles College

In a dominating offensive performance, Virginia Union University beat Miles College 45-3 Sunday in the Black College Football Hall of Fame Clash at the Classic in Canton, Ohio.
Senior running back Curtis Allen led the way for the Panthers, piling up 185 yards on 17 carries and scoring two touchdowns while setting a Classic record for rushing yards.
The Panthers’ offense outgained the Golden Bears 556 yards to 249 yards. VUU racked up 375 yards rushing and 181 yards passing. The Golden Bears tried to keep up through the air, rushing for just 50 yards while gaining 199 yards in the passing game.
VUU got on the board first with a 40-yard field goal by Brady Myers, caping a nine-play, 57-yard drive with 7:22 to play in the first quarter.
Allen, chosen as the Offensive Player of the Game, followed that up in the second quarter with a nifty 53-yard scoring run during which he hurdled a Miles defender to break loose for the touchdown with 10:05 to play in the period.
The Golden Bears got on the scoreboard with a 39-yard field goal from Reid Grek with 7:34 to go in the second quarter.
VUU responded with a 35-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback RJ Rosales to wide receiver Ricky Key Jr., a graduate student, with 5:18 to play in the second quarter.
VUU led 17-3 at halftime and from that point on, the Panthers ran away with the game and never looked back in the game, which was broadcast on the NFL Network.
Allen kicked off the second-half scoring with a 12-yard touchdown run to cap a 12-play, 74-yard drive with 9:36 to play in the third quarter, putting the Panthers up 24-3.
VUU scored at the end of an 11-play, 66-yard drive when Rosales punched it in with a 1-yard touchdown run just before the third quarter ended.
The Panthers added two more scores in the fourth quarter to wrap up the 45-3 victory:
• Senior quarterback Mark Wright connected with wide receiver Keon Davis for a 48-yard touchdown with 5:02 to play in the quarter.
• Freshman running back Raphael Tucker scored on a 19-yard touchdown run with 21 seconds left in the game.
Miles was led by redshirt freshman quarter Kamren Ivory, who completed 21 of 39 passes for 174 yards and two interceptions. Golden Bears running back Edward Osley, a redshirt sophomore, had nine carries for 38 yards.
VUU’s defense held up it’s end of the bargain, forcing five turnovers (three fumbles and two interceptions). The Panthers’ Kamari Federick, a junior defensive lineman, was the Defensive Player of the Game.
The game was played at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium and was part of a full weekend of events celebrating the Black College Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025 and HBCUs.
The Black College Football Hall of Fame was founded in 2009 and now has a permanent home in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The organizations formed a partnership in 2016 and the first Classic game was played in 2019.
The attendance for the Clash at the Classic was 3,223.
