Little, playing in his second NFL season, drilled a 70-yard field goal as the first half expired against the Pittsburgh Steelers in both teams’ first preseason game for the 2025 season.

Little opened up to ESPN’s Michael DiRocco that there was a little bit of uncertainty before the attempt, “Can’t lie, there was probably a little bit of doubt. But I mean, we attempted a lot of long field goals in training camp. Had some 60, probably 65-pluses before [in practice]. And so, you know, I really wanted to just go out there and see what it would do.”

While the kick does not count as far as the NFL official record book is concerned, it did surpass the NFL regular season record of 66 yards (Justin Tucker, 2021) and the NCAA record of 69 yards (Ove Johansson, 1976).

Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence offered these thoughts related to his teammate’s accomplishment, “Unbelievable to see him make that. That’s huge, especially in those two-minute drills. If you can get him near the 50, you got a really good shot. Having a guy like that is a weapon.”

It will be a fun story for football fans this season to see if the Jaguars are able to use their “weapon” in Cam Little’s right leg to rewrite the official NFL record book.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame received the jersey and shoe that Little wore during his 70-yard kick. The items are on display in the “Pro Football Today Gallery.”
