Hispanic Football Hall of Fame established to celebrate Hispanic excellence
The Hispanic Football Hall of Fame was established Wednesday in order to recognize and honor "the extraordinary contributions of Hispanic players, coaches, and contributors at every level of the game."
Former NFL head coach and Super Bowl winner Ron Rivera and Pro Football Hall of Fame lineman ANTHONY MUNOZ will serve as founding board members, according to a news release.
"Foot
ball has always been a sport that unites people from all backgrounds," Rivera said in a statement. "The Hispanic Football Hall of Fame gives us an opportunity to tell the stories of incredible people who not only achieved greatness on the field, but also opened doors and inspired countless young people in our communities."Said Munoz: "This Hall of Fame is about more than honoring the past — it's about building a future. I'm proud to help create a platform that recognizes Hispanic excellence in football and encourages future generations to chase their dreams, knowing that their heritage is a strength and part of what makes the game so powerful."
The Hispanic Football Hall of Fame also announced Wednesday that it will host, in partnership with the NFL, an International Flag Football Championship and football camps featuring the top Hispanic high school players from around the world.
"The Hispanic Football Hall of Fame reaches far beyond recognizing the accomplishments of Hispanic athletes, coaches, and leaders who have contributed so much to football's growth and success, it is a promise of hope for future generations," said Troy Vincent, Sr., NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations and HFHOF International Advisory Committee member. "By honoring the pioneers and elevating the voices of Hispanic players, coaches, and leaders, we strengthen the game and inspire young people to see football as a place where they belong, where their heritage is valued, and where their dreams can thrive."
