Artifact from 'Land Down Under' added to Hall of Fame's Collection
The Pro Football Hall of Fame is home to many unusual artifacts, and rarely does it get its proverbial hands on a first-of-its-kind.
This week, the museum did just that.
On Sept. 10, 2026, the National Football League made its debut in Australia, where the San Francisco 49ers took on the Los Angeles Rams.
Played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in front of a crowd of 100,000-plus, the 49ers dominated the game from the opening kickoff and went on to win 27-7. Brock Purdy threw three touchdown passes and Eddy Piñero added two field goals. The lone score for the Rams came from Kyren Williams.
After the game, Commissioner Roger Goddell, the Netflix on-air talent crew of MICHAEL IRVIN, Clay Matthews III and Nick Foles, as well as the 49ers’ Purdy, Fred Warner and Nick Bosa, wore custom kangaroo coats, emblazoned with the Netflix logo and NFL shield.
One of those custom jackets made it back to the states and to Canton, Ohio, and has been placed in the “Pro Football Today” gallery, along with other momentous and record-breaking items from the 2026 NFL season.
Guests can see all these artifacts and more at the Hall of Fame. Get your tickets today!
