The Mission Podcast

"The Mission" podcast launched in 2018. It is hosted and co-produced by the Hall’s Senior Director of Program Activation and Producer of HOF Productions, Jamir Howerton.

A former Cleveland Browns sideline reporter and New York Jets team reporter, Howerton also is the host and moderator for the Hall’s "Huddle Up America" shows, including Strong Youth Strong Communities and America’s Time to Listen and Learn. With co-producer Eric Welshenbaugh, this team has brought you exclusive Gold Jacket inside stories, monumental moments of Enshrinement and the “The Knock on the Door” as well as the stories of inspiration coming through the doors of the Hall every day.

You will hear firsthand accounts of how Hall of Famer Richard Dent encouraged Michael "Air" Jordan to start lifting weights, which helped Jordan elevate his game against the Bulls rival, the Detroit "Bad Boys" Pistons. Legendary head coach Tony Dungy displays his football expertise on how the newest Buccaneers signal-caller and future Hall of Famer, Tom Brady, will match up in the NFC South.

"The Mission" goes far beyond the stories on the field or during one’s playing career. The podcast is truly geared toward bridging the rich life lessons learned and character development of what this great game of football has taught some of the most prolific collegiate and professional athletes who have laced a pair of cleats.

Cleveland Browns Legend Clay Matthews Jr. stopped by to share the Matthews’ Blueprint that has built one of the greatest football dynasties in sports history. Steve Hutchinson, a member of the 2020 Centennial Class, explained the importance of Faith, Family and Football that guided him through his Hall of Fame career.

The goal of this podcast is to live out the Hall’s Mission: "Honor the Greatest of the Game, Preserve its History, Promote its Values and Celebrate Excellence Together.”
