The following is a brief description of the 13 volunteer committees that assist the Pro Football Hall of Fame during Enshrinement Week. These descriptions will help you decide which committee matches with your interests, skills and abilities.

*******PLEASE NOTE THE AGE RESTRICTIONS FOR VOLUNTEERS*****

You must be 18 years or older to volunteer.  Exception:  Anyone who is 16 or 17  years old may apply to be a volunteer IF his or her parent volunteers on that committee AND the Chairperson of that committee approves the application.

You must be 25 years or older to volunteer for the Transportation or Corporate Host Committees.  Since driving an official HOF vehicle is involved in these committees, you must also possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License and submit to a background check.

General Information

            To help you better understand the descriptions, these terms have the following meaning:

1. “Gold Jacket.” The term “Gold Jacket” refers to all of the 295 Pro Football Hall of Famers who have received a Gold Jacket.  We anticipate that over 120 Gold Jackets will attend the Enshrinement Week Events in 2016.

2. “Enshrinee” or “Enshrinement Class.” This refers to the eight men who were elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016.  They are Edward J. DeBartolo, Jr., Tony Dungy, Brett Favre, Kevin Greene, Marvin Harrison, Orlando Pace, Ken Stabler and Dick Stanfel.

3. “Enshrinement Week Events” refers to the over 40 events and functions that occur on the Hall of Fame Campus beginning Thursday, August 4th and ending Sunday, August 7th.  These include: First Ball; Concert for Legends starring Tim McGraw; Gold Jacket Autograph sessions; Enshrinement Ceremony; NFL/Hall of Fame Game and all associated parties.

AUTOGRAPH

Chairperson – Scott Robertson

Vice-Chairperson –  Frank Leopold

Volunteers Needed:  38

  • Set-up and tear down tents for Autograph sessions.
  • Welcome fans, take tickets and assist fans attending Autograph sessions.
  • Assist Gold Jackets and Enshrinement Class during autograph signings.
  • Must be available Saturday 10:45 am to 5:30 pm and Sunday 2:00 pm to 5:15 pm.
  • Must be able to stand in outdoor tents for entire shift.
  • Requires outgoing personality who enjoys interaction with the public.

 

CONCERT FOR LEGENDS

Chairperson – Dennis Manzella

Volunteers Needed: 90

  • Assist in set-up of floor seating areas on Tuesday and Wednesday (15 Volunteers)
  • Greet fans, check floor tickets, affix wristbands, and provide assistance to all floor seating.
  • Act as seat ushers for all floor and VIP seating.
  • Maintain security around stage area.
  • Must be available Friday 4:00 pm until end of concert.
  • Must be able to stand in outside elements during entire shift.
  • Requires outgoing personality who enjoys interaction with the public.

 

CORPORATE HOST

Chairperson – Steve Neisel

Vice-Chairperson –

Volunteers Needed:  10

  • All Corporate Host Committee members must be at least 25 years old, have a valid Ohio Driver’s License and pass a background check.
  • Transport VIPs to and from all Enshrinement Week Events in Official HOF vehicles.
  • Assist Hall of Fame in providing “VIP Treatment” to special guests of the Hall of Fame. 
  • Must be knowledgeable with traffic routes and flow around the Hall of Fame and Canton.
  • Must be available from 8:00 am through midnight Thursday through Sunday.

 

ENSHRINEMENT

Chairperson –  Terry Coyne

Vice-Chairperson – Dave McRoberts

Volunteers Needed:  60

  • Assist in set-up of floor seating and stage for Enshrinement Ceremony.
  • Greet fans, check floor tickets and provide assistance to all floor seating.
  • Assist in moving groups from tailgate parties into stadium.
  • Act as seat ushers for all floor and VIP seating.
  • Maintain security around floor and stage area.
  • Attend to Bust of each Enshrinee during ceremony until returned to Hall of Fame.
  • Assist in tear down of floor seating and stage.
  • Must be available Saturday for shifts starting as early as 8:00 am and lasting until midnight.
  • Must be able to stand in outside elements during entire shift.
  • Requires outgoing personality who enjoys interaction with the public.

 

FAN APPRECIATION TENTS

Chairperson – Gina Bannevich

Vice-Chairperson – Valerie Nash

Volunteers Needed:  32

  • Set-up Gold and Diamond Venues for Fan Appreciation Parties Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
  • Check tickets and affix wristbands to attending guests.
  • Bartend parties as needed.
  • Distribute souvenirs to guests.
  • Assist guests to stadium events after Fan Appreciation Parties.
  • Assist with Gold Jackets during their appearance in tents.
  • Assist in tear down of Gold and Diamond Venues after parties end.
  • Must be available Friday 3:00 pm to 8:30 pm;  Saturday 1:00 pm to 6:30 pm; Sunday 2:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
  • Must be able to stand in outdoor tents during entire shift.
  • Requires outgoing personality who enjoys interaction with the public.

 

FIRST BALL/AMBASSADOR

Chairperson – Laura Weisgarber

Volunteers Needed:  60

  • Coordinate and assist in assembling up to 2000 children along 2.5 mile route to pass a football from the former site of the Hupmobile auto showroom in downtown Canton to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
  • Escort and assist Gold Jackets and their families participating in First Ball.
  • Assist in feeding and clean-up of First Ball participants after event.
  • Escort and assist Gold Jackets during ambassador visits to local hospitals, Library, YMCA, etc. on Friday 1:00 to 3:00 pm (10 volunteers maximum).
  • Must be available Thursday 8:30 am to 2:00 pm.
  • Must be able to stand in outside elements during entire shift.
  • Requires outgoing personality and patience for working with children.

 

GUEST SERVICES

Chairperson – Allyson Bussey

Vice-Chairperson – Mark Sibert

Volunteers Needed:  60

  • Set-up Visitor Information Tents.
  • Staff Visitor Information Tents Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 10:00 am – 8:00 pm
  • Assist guests with questions and provide information about the Hall of Fame Campus, Enshrinement Week Events and general community information.
  • Welcome visitors arriving in buses and directs buses to parking areas in Stadium Park.
  • Transport special needs visitors via golf carts within Hall of Fame campus.
  • Must be able to work in outside tent during entire shift.
  • Requires outgoing personality who enjoys interaction with the public.

 

HOSPITALITY

Chairperson –  Tim Jones

Volunteers Needed:  85

  • Coordinate and deliver food and beverages to Enshrinement Week Events.
  • Setup Bronze Venue for Saturday and Sunday pre-event parties.
  • Check tickets and affix wristbands for Bronze Venue parties.
  • Provide Bartending services as needed.
  • Assist Event Planners with parties as needed.
  • Must be available to work a minimum of two 6 hours shifts on Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
  • Must be available to work all day Saturday.
  • Must be physically able to lift and carry cases of beverages.
  • Must be able to stand in outside elements or outdoor tents during entire shift.
  • Requires outgoing personality who enjoys interaction with the public.

 

HOSTESS

Chairperson –  Nancy Chapman

Vice-Chairperson – Daisy Suggs

Volunteers Needed:  28

  • One Hostess is assigned to each Enshrinee’s family to provide assistance for all Enshrinement Week Events.
  • One Hostess is assigned to each Presenter’s family to provide assistance for all Enshrinement Week Events.
  • Provide assistance to returning Gold Jackets and their families for all Enshrinement Week Events.
  • Provide assistance to Enshrinee’s families and friends and VIPs during Enshrinement Ceremony.
  • Must be available to work 8:00 am to midnight Thursday through Sunday.
  • Enshrinement Seating Hostesses are required to work Saturday 4:00 pm through midnight
  • Requires a pleasant and outgoing personality and someone who can be very flexible to last minutes changes.

 

NFL/HALL OF FAME GAME

Chairperson –  Traci Tsai

Vice-Chairperson – Ben Stoffer

Volunteers Needed:  50

  • Assist in production and staging of all pregame elements.
  • Assist in TV production of introduction of Enshrinee Class before kick-off.
  • Assist in production and staging of Halftime show.
  • Assist professional cheerleaders as liaison with production crew.
  • Escort Enshrinees to Pre-Game introduction and live interviews.
  • Must be available Sunday 10:00 am until end of game (11:00 pm).
  • Must be independent and punctual in following TV production script.

 

SECURITY

Chairperson –  Todd Stover

Vice-Chairperson – Joel Chenevey, Jim Dehnke, Dan Michel, Mike Byham

Volunteers Needed:  150

  • Provide crowd control for Enshrinees, Gold Jackets and VIPs at Enshrinement Week Events.
  • Assist in maintaining flow of crowds on Hall of Fame grounds throughout week.
  • Assist in flow of crowds at entry gates to all stadium events.
  • Provide security at area hotels for Enshrinement Class and Gold Jackets.
  • Must work at least two 4 hour shifts from Thursday through Sunday.
  • Must be able to stand during entire shift, most assignments require working outside in the elements.
  • Requires individuals with an outgoing personality who enjoys dealing with the public, but can be insistent and firm when necessary.


SPECIAL EVENTS

Chairperson – Maureen Schmucker

Vice-Chairperson – Sharon Griffith

Volunteers Needed:  3

  • Plan and organize Chairman’s Picnic.
  • Solicit, construct and deliver “local basket” to Enshrinement Class.
  • Provide ancillary services to Enshrinement Class, Gold Jackets and other committees.
  • Must be flexible to work throughout the week as needed.

 

TRANSPORTATION

Chairperson – Bob Vero

Vice-Chairperson – Rick Evans, Greg Evans

Volunteers Needed:  65

  • All Transportation Committee members must be at least 25 years old, have a valid Ohio Driver’s License and pass a background check.
  • Drive Enshrinement Class, Presenters, Gold Jackets and VIPs in Official HOF cars to and from all Enshrinement Week events.
  • Act as host on bus transporting Enshrinee’s family and friends from their hotels to all Enshrinement Week events.
  • Assist the Hall of Fame staff in transportation needs throughout the weekend.
  • Must be knowledgeable with traffic routes and flow around the Hall of Fame and Canton.
  • Must be available from 8:00 am through midnight Thursday through Sunday.
