WHAT IS HALL OF FAME VILLAGE POWERED BY JOHNSON CONTROLS ?

Exciting progress is being made every day at Hall of Fame Village powered by Johnson Controls, an a multimillion-dollar mixed-use development of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s campus, under way in Canton, Ohio. It will be the first-ever sports and entertainment “Smart City.” Several major components will be integrated through technology to subtlety and seamlessly share the values from the Game – commitment, integrity, courage, respect and excellence – with guests in a way that will impact their lives.

WHO IS HOF VILLAGE LLC?

The Hall of Fame Resort and Entertainment Company (HOFV) is a leading sports, entertainment and media enterprise headquartered in Canton, Ohio. Established in 2020, the publicly traded Company is the result of a merger between HOF Village, LLC — a partnership between the Pro Football Hall of Fame and Industrial Realty Group (IRG) that began in 2016 — and Gordon Pointe (GPAQ) Acquisition Corp.

HISTORICAL NAMING RIGHTS PARTNERSHIP

A historic 18-year partnership between Hall of Fame Village powered by Johnson Controls was announced on November 18, 2016. The multimillion-dollar agreement spearheads the creation of the first-ever sports and entertainment “smart city.”

In addition, a professional services contract calls for Johnson Controls’ products, services and solutions used within the Hall of Fame Village powered by Johnson Controls including the museum. This will provide for the creation of a showcase “smart city” with the company providing its building management systems, HVAC equipment, fire and security systems and other technologies that will assure world-class environments and yield significant operational cost savings over the life of the agreement.

PHASE I (COMPLETED)

HALL OF FAME MUSEUM

The Pro Football Hall of Fame is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational institution guided by its Mission to “Honor the Heroes of the Game, Preserve its History, Promote its Values & Celebrate Excellence EVERYWHERE!” The Pro Football Hall of Fame works collaboratively with the pro football family: the National Football League, the 32 NFL clubs and other entities.

From its humble beginnings in 1963 to today, the Pro Football Hall of Fame has grown in both size and stature. Recognized worldwide as America’s premier sports Hall of Fame, it is an exhilarating museum and attraction that pays tribute to the talents and triumphs of pro football’s greatest stars. Chronicled within the walls of the Hall of Fame are the stories and circumstances of play that bring to life words such as courage, dedication, vision, fair play, integrity and excellence.

Perhaps the most emotional stop during a tour of the museum is the Hall of Fame Gallery that houses the Bronzed Bust of each of the Hall of Famer.

The museum will be infused with state-of-the-art technology to enhance the world-class sports museum.

The holographic theater “A Game for Life” is an extraordinary, cutting-edge, multi-sensory immersive theater that features holographic representations of Hall of Fame Legends Joe Namath, George Halas and Vince Lombardi. The experience provides great inspiration to fans by showing how the game of football also teaches lessons about life. The stories of numerous Hall of Famers, including Jim Kelly, Steve Largent, Alan Page, Jim Brown, Warren Moon and Curtis Martin, are shared.

The Ralph Wilson, Jr. Pro Football Research and Preservation Center is where the documentary evidence of the history of professional football is preserved. Within this state-of-the-art, 10,000-square-foor facility, a vast archive of more than 40 million pages of documents, primary source materials and more than 6 million photographic images are protected with a climate-controlled system. Additionally, it is the repository for the Hall of Fame’s artifact collections that includes more than 30,000 individual objects. 

BLACK COLLEGE FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME

The Pro Football Hall of Fame (PFHOF) and the Black College Football Hall of Fame (BCFHOF) entered a historic partnership that provides the BCFHOF with a permanent home at the PFHOF. The partnership also includes a BCFHOF Classic football game featuring teams from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium. The BCFHOF induction ceremony will move to Canton.

Thirty-three of the 346 members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame (nearly 10 percent) played at an HBCU. Three members of the PFHOF (Mel Blount, Willie Lanier and Art Shell) serve on the BCFHOF’s Board of Trustees.

The BCFHOF was founded in 2009 by two legendary NFL quarterbacks and African American pioneers, James “Shack” Harris and Doug Williams. Under their leadership, the BCFHOF has continued to grow, providing a meaningful platform to share the history and stories of the greatest HBCU football players, coaches and contributors.

TOM BENSON HALL OF FAME STADIUM

The spectacular sports and entertainment complex holds 23,000 and features an NFL-caliber press box that also includes world-class hospitality experiences in a variety of settings.

  • Club seating level featuring 968 gold colored seats are positioned at the first level of the press box.
  • VIP Lounge for 50 guests offers a unique space with incredible views of the stadium and can be configured as a lounge, banquet or dining area.
  • Luxury suites provide premium seating and great site lines for all stadium events, as well as feature flat screen TVs and upscale catering.
  • Sky Level sits atop the press box and features a sprawling terrace overlooking the entire stadium. The one-of-a-kind experience accommodates up to 250 guests.
  • Five event terraces in the west end zone that offer unique experiences in a casual outdoor party setting with food and beverage catering.

Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium hosts three main events of the annual Enshrinement Week Powered by Johnson Controls: the Hall of Fame Game, Enshrinement and Concert for Legends.

The venue was awarded the NCAA Division III National Football Championships for 2021. The stadium also will host other athletic events, including lacrosse and soccer.

Built in amphitheater style with a large, permanent built-in stage, Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium is also an elite concert venue that ranks among the best in the nation due to its unique architecture.

NATIONAL YOUTH FOOTBALL & SPORTS COMPLEX

The complex will include eight state-of-the-art turf fields that will be multi-purposed, lighted and equipped with the latest technology and video capabilities. The sports complex will include full world-class amenities, a football-sized concourse area and a championship field with 3,000 seats. Three fields opened in 2016 and grew to five in 2017.

The complex showcases the best football athletes from across the country at all levels of the game. In addition to football, the complex hosts other sports such as soccer, lacrosse, rugby and track and field.

PHASE II (IN PROGRESS)

HALL OF FAME WATERPARK

A spectacular 147,000-square-foot football-themed waterpark with waterslide tower, lazy river, wave pool, zero entry fun zone, swim up bar and outdoor entertainment area.

THE ELEVEN, A HILTON TAPESTRY HOTEL

A seven-story, 154,000-square-foot premium Hilton Tapestry Hotel with 180 guestrooms, including 10 suites. Featuring a 5,000-square-foot ballroom plus 2,100 square feet of meeting rooms, indoor pool and fitness center, as well as a full-service 106-seat restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating.

CONSTELLATION CENTER FOR EXCELLENCE

Located at the west end zone of Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, the 75,000-square-foot retail, research and office building will serve as the anchor for a one-of-a kind media mesh video wall attached to the side of the structure.

CENTER FOR PERFORMANCE

An entertainment and performance area with endless possibilities containing 85,000 square feet of exhibition halls and athletic performance space.

RETAIL PROMENADE

Unique retail offerings for guests with rooftop views of campus and Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.
